10 Sep – The production of "23 Jump Street" the sequel to the American comedy action film, "22 Jump Street" starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill has been confirmed!
Deadline has reported that Sony Pictures and Original Film are moving ahead with another sequel attaching Rodney Rothman as the screenwriter.
Rothman previously co-wrote "22 Jump Street" along with Michael Bacall, the writer who scripted the original "21 Jump Street".
The directors of "22 Jump Street", Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be overseeing the script but it remains to be seen if they will return to direct the third instalment.
Even the franchise main cast, Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill have not signed on yet, but they are expected to, soon.
"22 Jump Street" was a box office success, gaining over USD 319.6 million worldwide, significantly more than "21 Jump Street" which grossed over USD 201.5 million globally.
Rothman is also the producer for the upcoming project together with Neal Moritz, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.
In other related news, Tatum will be appearing in four upcoming movies; "The Book of Life" which is set to release this coming October, "Jupiter Ascending" and "Magic Mike XXL" which are scheduled for 2015, and "X-Men: Apocalypse" where Tatum will take on the role of mutant, Gambit.
As for Hill, he has two upcoming films, "True Story" which will be released this year also starring James Franco, Felicity Jones and Gretchen Mol, with "Sausage Party", a 3D computer adult animated comedy film slated for 2016.
