New details on "Alien: Covenant" Xenomorphs

Writer: Casey Chong

A new alien will be introduced in the forthcoming sci-fi sequel.

25 Oct - Despite the mixed reviews of "Prometheus" in 2012, Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequel still managed to earn enough money at the box office worldwide to warrant a sequel, "Alien: Covenant".

Now, if you are an "Alien" fan, the word Xenomorph should sound familiar to you. Otherwise simply known as alien, the extra-terrestrial creature is highly recognised as one of the most iconic movie monsters ever seen in the history of Hollywood cinema.

Next year, there will be a brand new Xenomorph in "Alien: Covenant" and Michael Fassbender himself has recently revealed the new name for the alien creature during an interview with BBC Radio 2's Mark Goodier, according to AvPGalaxy.

The new Xenomorphs will be called Neomorphs.

The upcoming movie is gearing up to be as dark as promised. The ecosystem mutated by the black goo, as seen in "Prometheus", reportedly is the place where Neomorphs spawn. The trees in the ecosystem are teemed with pods that release spores which cause horrible physical deformities in their hosts.

Michael Fassbender will be reprising his role as the android David, alongside Noomi Rapace, who also returns as Elizabeth Shaw, in "Alien: Covenant", which is expected to start terrorising cinemas in August 2017.
