Stan Lee is getting his own action movie

A movie centred on comic book writer Stan Lee is in the making.

14 Sep – The man responsible for the creation of many a great comic book superhero, Mr. Stan Lee himself, is getting his own movie.

It will not be a biopic, according to The Hollywood Reporter, it will instead be an action-adventure movie set in the 1970s.

The story will focus on Lee as the main character and it is said to be in the same vein as "Kingsman: The Secret Service" or even "James Bond" during Roger Moore's era.

The movie is being developed by Twentieth Century Fox, after successfully acquiring Lee's life rights for it. Lee is no stranger to the studio, as it does handle the "X-Men" and "Fantastic Four" franchises, two superhero series created by Lee.

The 93-year-old has created, mostly alongside artists Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, numerous iconic characters throughout his career. Some of his most notable works include the abovementioned franchises as well as the superheroes Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor and more.

Lee entered the world of comic book publishing at the age of 17 in 1939, back when he was just a poor boy named Stanley Lieber. He started working for his uncle at Timely Comics, which by the 1960s evolved to Marvel Comics.

In the 1970s, Lee moved to Hollywood and since then the world has been treated to big screen adaptations of his comic book superheroes. The writer even enjoys making cameo appearances in the movie versions of his works.

Lee's action movie is being produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, the men behind "Twilight", "The Maze Runner" and the new "Power Rangers", though it currently has no writers or director attached.
