Doctor Doom movie in the making

Writer: Florey DM

Julian McMahon was the only actor to play Doctor Doom twice in the "Fantastic Four" movies.

21 Jul – "Fantastic Four" hasn't exactly had a fantastic track record with its previous releases but that's not stopping Noah Hawley (creator of "Fargo" and "Legion") from developing a project related to the heroic quartet.

Though, Hawley's movie will focus on the heroes' archenemy, Doctor Doom, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The news was revealed by Hawley himself at the end of his Comic Con panel for FX's "Legion". Hawley will be writing and possibly directing the movie. The screenwriter doesn't have any feature film directing experience but he has previously helmed two episodes of "Fargo" and an episode of "Legion".

This will mark the first time for Doctor Doom to get his own movie, though the villain has appeared in all three previous "Fantastic Four" feature films.

Doctor Doom's first appearance was technically in a 1994 movie but that was never released. So officially, his debut was in 2005's "Fantastic Four", as played by Julian McMahon. McMahon later reprised the role in the 2007 sequel, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer".

The villain's last big screen appearance was in 2015's "Fantastic Four" reboot, played by Toby Kebbell. However the character design was not very favourably received, nor was the movie in general.

Apart from the Doctor Doom movie, 20th Century Fox is also looking to revive the "Fantastic Four" franchise with a spinoff by Seth Grahame-Smith ("Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"), focusing on Franklin Richards, the son of Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Girl.
