Jude Law will be joining these stars in the "Fantastic Beasts" sequel.

13 Apr – Everyone knows him as Dickie Greenleaf in "The Talented Mr. Ripley". Everyone loved him as Dr. John Watson, the assistant to Robert Downey Jr.'s "Sherlock Homes". Everyone shivered at the sound of his chilly voice in "Rise of the Guardians" as Pitch the Boogeyman.

Now, the award-winning Jude Law is going to take on an iconic role that has been played by 3 different actors across 8 different films.

Drum-roll please... It has been announced that Jude Law is going to portray a young Albus Dumbledore in the "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" sequel.

Yes, that's right. Jude Law is going to take on the role of one of the most beloved characters of J.K. Rowling's most popular series.

"I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life," said director David Yates in a statement.

But of course, the Dumbledore in this movie will not be the same as the wise, old and powerful headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In fact, he hasn't even become the headmaster yet.

"Fantastic Beasts" is set in an era before Harry Potter, before Voldermort even.

Law will portray Albus Dumbledore as Hogwarts' Transfiguration professor, before he was known as one of the most powerful wizards of the Harry Potter world, and a contemporary to era's reigning dark wizard, Gellert Grindelwald, who was played by Johny Depp in the first "Fantastic Beasts" movie.

The sequel's script will be written by Rowling, just as she wrote the script for the first instalment. It will be directed by Yates, who had also directed the final four "Harry Potter" films as well as "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them".

This will be the second of the five planned "Fantastic Beasts" film. Shooting begins this summer and the release is set for November 2018.

Until then, you can catch Jude Law and his phenomenal acting in "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword" in cinemas next month.
