Mark Ruffalo 'splitting' himself into two again for new TV roles

Writer: Florey DM

Mark Ruffalo is going to play twin brothers in "I Know This Much Is True".

22 Oct – Mark Ruffalo sure loves playing more than one onscreen character in a single project, this time the actor is showing off his versatility by starring as a pair of twins in an upcoming HBO series.

"I Know This Much Is True", a 1998 best-selling novel by Wally Lamb, is getting adapted into a six-episode series with Ruffalo also executive producing it, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 50-year-old will be playing both Dominick and Thomas Birdsey.

Set against the backdrop of 20th century America, the family saga follows the parallel lives of the identical twin brothers in a story of betrayal, sacrifice and forgiveness.

Derek Cianfrance ("The Place Beyond the Pines", "The Light Between Oceans") will be directing from his own script, while also serving as executive producer alongside Ruffalo.

This project brings Ruffalo back to HBO. He previously starred in the network's TV movie, "The Normal Heart", playing openly gay writer Alexander "Ned" Weeks.

Of course, on the big screen fans would know him best from the "Avengers" franchise, in which he stars as physicist Bruce Banner who shares a body with a physically strong humanoid, the Hulk.

While there's no word yet on the HBO series' release date, fans at least know they will get to see Ruffalo reprising his hulking role when "Avengers 4" hits the cinemas next year.
