Writer: Florey DM
"Escape Room", which is still showing in cinemas, already has a sequel in development.
26 Feb - It's time to escape the room again. Columbia Pictures is developing a follow-up to the high grossing "Escape Room", which was released just last month.
Adam Robitel, who directed the first movie, will be back to helm the sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Robitel's horror directing experience, which includes "Insidious: the Last Key" and "The Taking of Deborah Logan", is definitely benefitting "Escape Room" as it has so far managed to collect USD118.6 million worldwide against its USD9 million production budget.
There's not much info on "Escape Room 2" yet, it is only known that Bragi F. Schut will return as screenwriter and Neal H. Moritz as producer.
The sequel will have a relatively short production timeline, compared to the first movie's production that begun in 2017, as it is slated for release in North American cinemas on 17 April 2020.
"Escape Room", which is currently still showing in cinemas and yet to open in some territories, is a psychological thriller that follows a group of strangers who are told they are competing for a USD10,000 prize, only to find out they are trapped in a deadly game instead.
