24 Dehc – After opening in cinemas nationwide on 20 December, "Ip Man 4" has managed to set a new record at the local box office.

The Donnie Yen-starrer grossed more than SGD1.7 million within three days of its theatrical release in Singapore.

It collected over SGD543,000 on its first day and over SGD682,000 on the second day, breaking the single-day record and successfully setting the highest box office intake for an Asian film in 2019.

"Ip Man 4" marks Donnie Yen's final reprisal as the titular kung fu master, though he assured fans that he would still be showing off his fighting skills in upcoming action movies.

During his recent visit to Malaysia, the actor shared that fans' enthusiasm from around the world, including those from Africa's Maasai tribe, was his reason for agreeing to one last "Ip Man" movie, despite previously saying that he would stop at three.

Directed by Wilson Yip, "Ip Man 4" also stars Scott Adkins, Danny Chan and Vanness Wu.
