30 Jan – It's been nearly two years since Zack Snyder took a break from the movie industry but the writer-director is now ready to go back behind the cameras and he already has a new project lined up.
Snyder will be helming "Army of the Dead" for Netflix, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie is a zombie horror thriller set in Las Vegas, where a group of mercenaries venture into the quarantined zone during a zombie outbreak to attempt an ambitious heist.
"Army of the Dead" marks a fitting comeback for Snyder since he did make his directorial debut with the remake of 1978's "Dawn of the Dead" in 2004, which pulled in USD102.3 million at the box office on a USD26 million production budget.
He's since directed or written – or both – blockbuster titles such as the "300" movies and DC superhero movies ("Man of Steel", "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", "Wonder Woman", etc.). It was while working on "Justice League" that he had to withdraw following his daughter's suicide, with Joss Whedon stepping in instead for the project.
There's no date set for "Army of the Dead" yet but Snyder's other upcoming movies, which he served as producer on, include 2020's "Wonder Woman 1984" and "Suicide Squad 2", and 2021's "The Flash".
