1 Oct – Being an in-demand Hollywood leading man, Idris Elba has no shortage of films to work on. Reportedly, he has two lined up next.

First is the survival thriller "Beast", according to The Hollywood Reporter, which will see the 48-year-old fighting a lion.

Baltasar Kormakur, the Icelandic director who helmed the Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin-starring "Adrift", will direct the movie.

The script, based on an original idea by Jaime Primak-Sullivan, is penned by Ryan Engle, whose writing credits include the Dwayne Johnson-starrer "Rampage".

However, as the plot is being kept under wrap, nothing else is known so far except that the movie will be in the same vein as "The Shallows", the 2016 survival horror film that starred Blake Lively as a surfer who gets stranded on sea and finds herself alone with a dangerous great white shark.

While "Beast" is set in stone, the second movie that Elba will reportedly work on is still a rumour at this point. Small Screen reported that Daniel Ritchman first posted about it on Patreon, stating that Paramount Pictures is eyeing Elba as the new face of "G.I. Joe".

Others being eyed for the role include Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, John Cena and, surprisingly, the much younger Tom Holland.

At the moment, however, the only "G.I. Joe" movie confirmed for release will be the Henry Golding-starring "Snake Eyes". Meanwhile, Elba is seen onscreen this year in "Concrete Cowboy" and will next be seen starring in James Gunn's "The Suicide Squad".
