BUJANG SENANG

The story focuses on Bujang who has to find a wife before his wealthy father Datuk Azlan turns 65. The problem with Bujang is that he won`t settle for anything less than perfection when it comes to women. He wants the perfect wife, thus even the slightest of flaws in a woman will turn him off. But when he meets Murni, a village girl, he`s immediately smitten. To ensure that Murni is not like any other materialistic woman, Bujang tells her that he works as a personal driver. Murni begins to fall for Bujang and continues to date him since she just wants an average man. Things get complicated when Murni accidentally discovers Bujang`s secret and accuses him of trying to con her. Worse still, Bujang`s father does not approve of Murni, as he accuses her of trying to win over Bujang for his money. Devastated, Murni decides to return to her hometown and marry any man that her parents find suitable. That leaves Bujang racing against time to win Murni back.

Watch this if you liked: "Senario: The Movie"

"Bujang Senang", like every other movie starring Saiful Apek is sure to be filled with slapstick comedy, hilarious antics and sometimes over exaggerated actions. Regardless of this, "Bujang Senang" is set to rake up the big bucks at Malaysia's box office. Directed by Prof Madya Abdul Razak Mohaideen who already has 19 films under his wing, "Bujang Senang" proves to be Malaysia's first narrative comedy.

This romantic comedy which is produced by KSG Pictures Sdn Bhd and Clear Motion Pictures Sdn Bhd, stars local comedian Saiful Apek, who for the first time plays dual roles and the gorgeous Fasha Sandha plays Murni, Apek's love interest. "Bujang Senang" revolves around Azlan, better known as Bujang (Saiful Apek) who leads a very charmed life. However, his father Tuan Besar (also played by Saiful Apek) gives him a time frame to find a wife or he will not be entitled to his inheritance.

Bujang, who now faces the task of finding a bride, decides to go out on a quest for her and the results are not only disastrous but also hilarious. Among the 'candidates' he goes out with are a shopaholic girl who obviously only wants him for his money, a girl who complains and criticizes a little too neurotically, a greedy girl who eats nonstop and acts like a five year old kid and lots more. One day a chance meeting allows him to meet Murni and they start dating.

A problem arises and almost breaks the relationship but in the end Bujang and Murni pull through. Enthusiastic that he has finally found someone to marry, Bujang brings Murni home to show his father. However, his father disapproves of Murni and accuses her of wanting Bujang for his money. Murni runs back to her kampong and begs her parents to match make her with whoever they want to end her misery. In the end however, love triumphs and Bujang and Murni end up together.

One of the best things about the movie is the dual roles that Saiful plays and the excellent way he becomes such different characters, a father and a son. His ability for slapstick comedy and silly antics is also another reason to watch this though if you aren't a fan of his. This movie could be painful for you to watch as it is full of him blubbering and fooling around. Throughout the movie, there are also many interesting sound effects which emphasize certain things. This could either annoy you or entertain you.

Overall, Malaysian cinema seems to be getting more creative especially since directors like Prof Madya Abdul Razak Mohaideen are willing to dabble with different methods and genres. Perhaps in the future more brave souls will try and create something that is truly artistic and beautiful which will move us all and perhaps win even an award or two. Watch this movie just for the sheer fun of watching Saiful Apek in dual roles and the hilarious girls that he goes out with. It will surely be a barrel of laughs, if not...giggles.
