Watch this if you liked: "La Brassiere”

This quirky romantic comedy has a great composition to form an engaging story with its colourful characters and imaginative cartoonish animation. The female lead, Sophie played by Zhang Ziyi, is a talented cartoonist who had everything she had ever wanted - a successful career, reliable best friends, and a handsome fiance who's a surgeon, Jeff (So Ji-seob). Not for long, Jeff dumps Sophie for a beautiful actress named Anna (Fan Bing Bing). From that point on, Sophie wants nothing more than pure revenge onto Anna and then runs into photographer Gordon (Peter Ho), where she elicits his help in her plan to win Jeff's heart back.

Sophie's love situation and outcome is nothing we haven't seen before, but the way the story is being told is something that takes "Sophie's Revenge" on a higher level. The visuals are strong with its dreamy colours, from the cartoon figures to characterized imagination, to the bright and dark colours that match the mood of the protagonist. The result: Truly entertaining and deliciously fun!

Glad the "Memoirs Of A Geisha" star picked up a less serious role and let loose in this one as a clumsy, obsessed ex-girlfriend who stalks Jeff to the point of peeping over his apartment window then falling to the snowy ground below. Sophie's over imaginative trait has landed her in so many awkward situations that can't help to crack a laugh when you see what trouble or position she's got herself into. Her revengeful schemes are pretty amusing, yet a majority of them are based on her wild imagination when she tries to action her devilish schemes onto Anna.

Looking like a cross between Rain and Wang Lee Hom, actor Peter Ho performed effortlessly as the gentleman who falls head over heels for Sophie, while big-eyed Fan Bing Bing portrayed well as an actress with a drama queen attitude.

Each of Sophie's phase is explored - "Sympathy and Understanding," "Nostalgia," "Reinvention," "Entrapment," "Arousing Jealousy" and the finale "Search and Rescue." At each chapter of the story, the point is clear and well delivered. However, be warned as this film does not carry any subtitles. But since the plot is predictable, the visuals are strong, and the character's wacky actions will tell the story, then it shouldn't be too bad.
