"Senna" and "Driven"
Oklahoma-born Ron Howards jumps at the opportunity to work with British writer Peter Morgan once again to re-create a merciless rivalry between Formula One drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda, set in the 1970s. As you watch this film, you will feel the tug-of-war between the lead characters Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl.
Based on a true story, "Rush" depicts the enmity of two of the biggest names in the history of Formula One, British boy Hunt and Austrian national Lauda as they push their boundaries to outdrive one another to be named the world's best. If you are a fan of racing, you'll love "Rush" as there will be plenty of beautiful roaring sounds from high octane engines. Talk about having 'eargasms'. This movie is nowhere near from being a flop as it keeps feeding the audience with intense scenes and heart-racing actions from an actual Formula One race. In addition, there are a numerous amounts of comical sarcasm which will tone down some overly-intense periods in this motion picture.
Personally, this reviewer has chosen Daniel Bruhl who plays Lauda to be the man to keep an eye on. Bruhl beautifully captures the characteristics of the methodical and disciplined Niki Lauda, making the character stand out. However, don't write off hunky Australian actor Hemworth quickly as he was brilliant in playing the British playboy racer Hunt.
The camerawork is also really impressive, for it manages to capture the intensity of the movie. You will be finding yourself really engrossed into the film as you will discover that there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error. For the ladies, you are in for a treat because Chris Hemsworth takes off part of his clothing in the movie.
All in all, "Rush" is definitely a movie worth paying for. Ron Howard and Peter Morgan sure make for a powerful duo. Expect the sweet sounds of engines roaring to life and mind-blowing action.
