The Good, the Bad and the Gone scenes:

Fans looking for another impeccable character driven mystery from David Fincher will not be disappointed as the thriller maestro has done Gillian Flynn's bestselling novel justice. Though this is expected, as the author of the book herself had worked on the screenplay of the movie, keeping the adaptation as close to the source material as possible. The role of Ben Affleck as the handsome looking jock-like yet awkward husband, Nick Dunne and Rosamund Pike as the perfect wife, Amy Dunne, is what makes this movie play out well. Their antics and personality reveals on screen as they deal with their marriage problems are just as engaging as movie's 'whodunit' plot. Even more surprising is Tyler Perry's role as Nick Dunne's high-profile lawyer, Tanner Bolt who thankfully did not remind this reviewer of his Madea roles. However just like the Dunne's relationship, not all is perfect with the movie. The casting of Neil Patrick Harris as Amy's ex-boyfriend is highly miscast and several of his lines and expressions in the movie does not stray away from his Barney persona as seen in "How I Met Your Mother", thus eliciting a few laughs from audiences, when really, the subject matter is quite serious.

"Gone Girl" is a slow-burn tale of a perfect marriage of two seemingly perfect individuals gone terribly wrong. As the pace unwinds with shocks and surprises here and there, it leads to a twist that some my find satisfying and some not. However, the Fincher effect of gloom and dark mystery is ever prevalent.

Trivia:

Although the Malaysian version of this film remains uncut, certain sex scenes are intentionally panned away/zoomed-in to avoid showing any direct nudity or violence on screen.
