The Good, the Bad and mortifying act:

• Johnny Depp has had mostly good choices of characters but this is undeniably one of his worst. Even his star power is not able to eradicate the fact that the film is horrible with no real value to offer - be it cinematic or moral.

• The key characters in the film speak in such exaggerated British manners (the main characters are Americans and Scottish) that it has to be borderline offensive to the British.

• The computer generated images used in the film does nothing to elevate its visual pleasures, looking badly generated and curiously low budget.

Trivia:

• Carice van Houten was the producers' first choice for the female lead but the role in the end went to Gwyneth Paltrow.
