The Good, the Bad and the Boxing ring:

• Jake Gyllenhaal does an amazing job delivering his role but the script leaves much to be desired with a plot that is not cohesive.

• While Gyllenhaal gets to shine, the script forces the other members of the cast to become more like one-dimensional props rather than active characters in the movie.

• The movie is riddled with cliches but it still makes an entertaining watch, at the very least.

Trivia:

• Eminem originally starred in the movie as it was supposed to be an unofficial follow-up to his "8 Mile", but the idea was scrapped when the rapper decided to focus on his music career and the starring role went to Jake Gyllenhaal instead.
