The Good, the Bad and the American Adventures:

• The movie seems to have been shot based on a hap-hazard messily written script, with the actions going all over the place and the characters all given over-the-top characteristics. The exaggerated actions may be played out for laughs, but more often than not, they only cause headaches to the audience.

• The movie's generalisation of the Americans beings loud, racist thugs while the Chinese are generous and innocent won't sit well with the audience. The blatant stereotyping is played-out and lowers the value of the humours in the movie.

• The cast performance is acceptable, with Huang Xiaoming more comfortable with his character here than in his other movies. Zhao Wei too carries her role well but Tong Dawei's English-laden dialogues only drag his performance down.

Trivia:

• This is the third time for Huang Xiaoming and Tong Dawei to work together as leads.
