Life

The film follows an American photojournalist and documentary photographer Dennis Stock, who works at the Magnum Photos Agency and receives an assignment to take photos of the rising Hollywood star James Dean, a cultural icon of teenage disillusionment and social estrangement, before the release of "East of Eden". A bond develops between the two during the assignment, as they both travel together to Los Angeles, New York and Indiana.

The Good, the Bad and the Rebellious Icon:

• Considering that director Anton Corbijn is renowned photographer, the film was indeed shot beautifully, but the plot pace might be a little bit too slow as some of the irrelevant tiny details were included when they could've been excluded.

• The film is sort of a waste on the handsome and talented Robert Pattinson who is very dull in the film and seems to be left in the shadow of Dane DeHaan's character.

• But perhaps, the film purposely portrayed Pattinson in such way and to focus more on DeHaan's role.

• Ben Kingsley refreshing cameo as Jack Warner will definitely leave a deep impression despite the limited screentime.

Trivia:

• Dane DeHaan and James Franco both have portrayed Harry Osborn in live action "Spider-Man" films, and coincidentally, they also portrayed James Dean.
