The Good, the Bad and the New Beginnings :

• The new "Amityville" steps on the ground of some morbid nightmares, disarms the viewer and easily brings in all the spooks.

• The storytelling can be a bit uneven making the movie hard to understand, but it still has plenty of dark and bold psychological twisted-ness pouring over the screen.

• Jennifer Jason Leigh who plays a crazy mother role to Bella Thorne's character, is absolutely brilliant and creepy at the same time. Not to mention, the mother-daughter liaison is one of the best thrilling elements of the story.

• However, one downside of the movie is its extensive use of dream sequences and visions, which didn't help the plot and were completely unnecessary, besides for setting up another random jump- scare.

Trivia:

• The movie had a total of seven failed release dates.
