The Good, the Bad and the Teen Life :

• The sense of realism is strong, making the movie highly believable and audiences can feel a real connection to it, thanks to this being inspired by slices of director Greta Gerwig's own life.

• Some of the titular character's conflicts are her strained but loving relationship with her mother, her wish to be in the same league as her wealthier peers, the twists in her romantic life, and her roller coaster relationship with her best friend, most of which teen girls (or anyone, really) would find themselves easily relating to.

• Saoirse Ronan plays Christine "Lady Bird" McPherson perfectly, exuding warmth and wittiness that make her completely lovable despite her character's flaws. The Irish-American actress has always a knack for portraying realistic teen characters, even as she approaches her mid-twenties.

• The dialogues are funny and witty. Audiences will not feel bored even if the movie doesn't particularly lead to shocking twists or huge reveals and maintains a steady pacing throughout its 90-minute plus runtime.

Trivia:

• This is director Greta Gerwig's solo feature directorial debut, having declined Oscar-nominated Noah Baumbach's offer to direct it.

• Saoirse Ronan and Beanie Feldstein didn't plan to wear the same nail polish in the movie but pure coincidence led to them deciding their best friend characters should have matching nail polish throughout the movie.
