No Smoking

A documentary about world-renowned musician Haruomi Hosono, who composed the soundtrack for "Shoplifters", which won a Palme d`Or at the Cannes Film Festival. It takes a look at his days in the bands Happy End and YMO, as well as his solo activities, with in-depth coverage of his first overseas performances in London, Taiwan, New York, and Los Angeles. He was joined by Yukihiro Takahashi and Keigo Oyamada in London, and the surprise appearance of Ryuichi Sakamoto marked the first time in years that the YMO members were reunited. Gen Hoshino and Kiko Mizuhara are just some of the young artists who admire Hosono, and in turn his musical evolution is inspired by them.
