2020 movies postponed to next year [Part 2]

There are tons of movies that will no longer be releasing in cinemas this year.
There are tons of movies that will no longer be releasing in cinemas this year.

We previously brought to you the first part of our compilation of Hollywood movies that were originally scheduled for release this year, but of course, thanks to pandemic, had to be postponed all the way to 2021.

Now let's continue with another 10 titles that we could've had the pleasure of enjoying in cinemas this year. Note that the release dates below are following the US schedule and are arranged in a descending order, kicking off from the spooky month of October!

The Last Duel

New release date: 15 October 2021

Looking pretty unrecognisable in the photo above (Photo source: JoBlo.com) are Ben Affleck (L) and Matt Damon (R), with Adam Driver sandwiched in between, in their "The Last Duel" getup. Ridley Scott directs the movie from a screenplay written by the two BFF actors, based on Eric Jager's book, and it was originally supposed to have a Christmas 2020 release.

Halloween Kills

New release date: 15 October 2021

What was supposed to be a movie just perfect for this year's Halloween month has now become a 2021 Halloween month movie, as "Halloween Kills" gets postponed just about a whole year. This sequel to 2018's "Halloween" sees Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her role as Laurie Strode.

Jungle Cruise

New release date: 30 July 2021

Star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson explains that the reason why "Jungle Cruise" had to be postponed, from this July to next year's July, is because Disney is hoping by then theme parks will be fully operational again. The movie, which co-stars Emily Blunt, is based on a popular Disney theme park attraction by the same name after all.

Top Gun: Maverick

New release date: 2 July 2021

Tom Cruise's "Top Gun" sequel was supposed to have been released last month, 34 years after the original, but it kept getting delayed. In the end now we'll only get to see him as the titular star in "Top Gun: Maverick" next July.

Minions: The Rise of Gru

New release date: 2 July 2021

The story of little Gru and his littler minions were supposed to have continued in "Minions: The Rise of Gru" last month. But the sequel to 2015's "Minions", a spinoff of the "Despicable Me" franchise, is now a summer 2021 release instead.

In the Heights

New release date: 18 June 2021

Directed by Jon M. Chu, this big screen adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes' stage musical "In the Heights" has been postponed roughly a whole year from its June 2020 release. Starring Anthony Ramos, Miranda will also make an appearance as Mr. Piragüero.

Last Night in Soho

New release date: 23 April 2021

Edgar Wright's psychological horror film "Last Night in Soho", starring Anya Taylor-Joy as a young woman with a passion for fashion, was supposed to be a September 2020 release. But it has been moved from this fall to next spring.

The Many Saints of Newark

New release date: 12 March 2021

Serving as a prequel to the popular crime drama series "The Sopranos", "The Many Saints of Newark" is another September 2020 released that was delayed to next spring. Alessandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta and Billy Magnussen are part of the star-studded cast.

Antlers

New release date: 19 February 2021

With Guillermo del Toro on board as producer, supernatural creature feature "Antlers" won't be selling its horror short. Unfortunately, we can only scream to this horror film next year, since it has been postponed from its original April 2020 release.

G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes

New release date: 2021

We haven't seen much info on this Henry Golding-led "G.I. Joe" prequel/reboot (not that we'll be seeing a lot of the Malaysian-British actor in it since his titular character is a stealthy, head-to-toe covered ninja), but "Snake Eyes" faced multiple delays in 2020 and in the end had to be moved to next year. There is still no confirmed release date so far.
