At the Laureus Awards KL red carpet

The 2014 Laureus Sports Awards was held yesterday, 27 March 2014 at the Istana Budaya, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the star-studded event saw to many international and local celebrities from the sports world as well as the movie world gracing the red carpet.

Hosted by British actor Benedict Cumberbatch, Oscar and Grammy winner Jamie Foxx performed to the star-studded audience, with German actor Daniel Brühl, who played Niki Lauda in the film "Rush" also present along with Chinese supermodel and actress Du Juan to present awards.

American skateboarder Tony Hawk was front and centre at the event with our local sport icons, national squash player Datuk Nicol Ann David and national badminton player Dato Lee Chong Wei.

The event also saw attendance by our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and wife Datin Rosmah, Malaysian Minister of Youth and Sports, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar along with a list of local celebrities; Hans Isaac, Maya Karin, Dato Siti Nurhaliza and more.

The big winners of the night were, Germany's Sebastian Vettel; who was named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year, American swimmer Missy Franklin; the youngest ever winner of the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year Award, while Spain's Marc Márquez received the Laureus Breakthrough of the Year Award.
