13 Sep – "The Rocker", starring Rainn Wilson ("The Office"), has been pulled off the release schedule and will not make it to cinemas in Malaysia after a global review on release plans, according to its local distributor Twentieth Century Fox Malaysia. The comedy, seen by many as a "Rock School" wannabe sans Jack Black, was a commercial flop in the U.S. when it released last month according to Variety Online, playing to mostly empty theatres. It is not known at the time of publishing if the movie will make other territories.
In other news, "Accuracy Of Death" was pulled off the GSC circuit due to unforeseen circumstances. The Japanese revisit of "Meet Joe Black" is due next week on 18 September but is currently sneaking at Cathay and TGV outlets in the meantime. The surprise release of the weekend is Rob Zombie's update on the classic slasher "Halloween", going wide to some 20 screens in celluloid form as cut up as the corpses in it. Similar censorship woes can also be expected from med school thriller "Pathology", which goes out on sneak previews this week. There are limited releases for Eric Bana drama "Romulus My Father", not to mention Hindi movie "Bachna Ae Haseeno" and Tamil movies "Uruvam" and "Alibaba".
