"Cars" speeds in

30 Jun – Pixar's latest offering "Cars 2" speeds its way to the first place at the North American box office with US $66.1 million on its opening last week, leaving "Bad Teacher" in a trail of smoke at second place, while the "Green Lantern" which opened up first last week drops two spots to the third place for the weekend just gone (23-26 June), according to online tracker Box Office Mojo.

"Cars 2" stars Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen and Larry the Cable Guy as Mater.

In Malaysia, "Green Lantern" still holds the top spot at the box office chart as Nicholas Tse's "Treasure Inn" debuts at second place, nudging "KL Gangster" to third place.

For Singapore there seems to be no change from last week as "Green Lantern" still maintains its glow for the top spot, while "Mr.Popper's Penguins" remains at second place, with "X-Men: First Class" not far behind at the third spot for the local box office count.

In Malaysia, new shows opening this week are "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon", "Monte Carlo" and "Delhi Belly".

In Singapore, "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon", "Miral", "Monte Carlo" and "Delhi Belly" is opening this week.
