31 May – "The Hangover Part II" managed to rake in an estimated US $137.4 million at the US box office on its opening over the four-day Memorial Day weekend, while "Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom" kicked off to a slow start opening at the number two spot for the weekend just gone (26-29 May), according to online tracker Box Office Mojo.
As "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" declared mutiny and sank to second place, the top spot went to "Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom" which debuted at the top spot for the Malaysian box office. Meanwhile "Karak", KRU Studio's first ever horror genre film directed by Yusry Abdul Halim debuted at third place on the local box office. In Singapore "Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom" dominates the top spot, as it ends "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" short-lived box office glory down to number two, leaving the latest comic book adaptation this year; "Dylan Dog: Dead of the Night" opening up to a weak third spot. Other new releases and sneak shows over the weekend in Malaysia include "X-Men: First Class", "Anwar", "Voices from the Grave" and "Toyol Nakal". New releases and sneak shows in Singapore over the weekend include "London Boulevard", "Insidious", "Midnight FM", and "The Hangover II".
