3D for "The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy

28 Nov – With classics like "Titanic", "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace", and "Beauty and the Beast", hitting theatres in 3D next year, fans have no shortage of movies to watch, and recently, actor Elijah Wood revealed that "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy will probably see 3D conversion for new theatrical releases, according to Movie Web.

The 30-year-old opined, "I think it would be cool to see. There's talk of releasing a dimensionalised trilogy eventually. I'm okay with doing post-process 3D, as long as someone takes the time.

"What I'm upset about is when a movie doesn't have the budget and the time to devote to it and they're not fine-tuning the detail of that, because it can look really bad and cheap. But I know that they wouldn't dimensionalise it unless it was a super meticulous process," he added.

When asked about his thoughts regarding the current trend of 3D conversion, the "TLOTR" star expressed his frustration of having to wait three years in order to watch the original trilogy.

"I mean, "Titanic"'s coming out in 3D now, and "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace", which means we have to wait three movies to get to the good part, it's unbelievable, I'm like, we have to wait three years for that? You're doing Episode I first?"

However, the 3D conversions are still in the talks, and no known date of trilogy's 3D release in theatres has been announced yet.

Elijah's role as Frodo Baggins has not seen its end yet. The actor will make a cameo in the upcoming "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey", also directed by Peter Jackson.
