Glowing Lantern!

21 June – With the onslaught of Marvel movies making their way to the big screen this year, DC Comics who's not to be left out, delivers "Green Lantern", which tops the North American box office with US $53.2 million on its opening last week, leaving "Super 8" to drop to second place as Jim Carrey's latest comedy "Mr.Popper's Penguins" debuted at a weak third spot for the weekend just gone (16-19 June), according to online tracker Box Office Mojo.


"Green Lantern" stars Blake Lively as Carol Ferris & Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan aka. the Green Lantern.

In Malaysia, "Green Lantern" lights up the top spot as it pushes the local sensation "KL Gangster" to second place, which according to a report by local newspaper Berita Harian's website, the movie has grossed RM10.3 million nationwide. The report also added that the movie is expected to gross RM11 million by the end of this week.

For Singapore, "Green Lantern" appears to be at first place as well, while "Mr.Popper's Penguins" opens up to second place leaving "X-Men: First Class" which held the top spot last week, dropping two spots down to third place.

Other new releases and sneak shows last week in Malaysia include "Always Kabhi Kabhi" with "Sacred and Secret", "Rasuk" and "Attack The Block", "Treasure Inn", and "The Infidel" opening this week.

In Singapore, other new releases and sneak shows last week include "Always Kabhi Kabhi" with "Treasure Inn", "Your Highness", "13 Assassins", "The Beaver", "Wasao", "Hello Ghost", and "Rasuk" opening this week.
