28 Mar – The North American box office favours the sequel of "Diary Of A Wimpy Kid" over Zack Snyder's visual fantasy "Sucker Punch" while Bradley Cooper's "Limitless" stay strong at third place for the weekend just gone (25-27 Mar), BoxOfficeMojo reports. The motion picture adaptation of American author and cartoonist Jeff Kinney's second book of the famous series, "Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules" bagged an estimated US$24.4 million, which apparently fared much better than the first film "Diary Of A Wimpy Kid" in 2010 which drew US$22.1 million Stateside. "Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules" is scheduled for a release in Malaysia on 26 May while it is showing in Singapore from 17 March onwards. The tracker site also reported that visionary director Zack Snyder's action fantasy "Sucker Punch" could only managed to be at second place, with an estimated collection of US$19 million and apparently touted as Snyder's worst life-action to date, following "300", "Watchmen" and "Dawn Of The Dead" "Sucker Punch" opens in cinemas in Singapore and Malaysia on 24 March.
Meanwhile GSC Mid Valley cinema manager Lee Kong Yew revealed that the top three highest-grossing movies at the prime location for the weekend are "Sucker Punch", "World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles (2D)" and followed by "World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles". Three major cinema chains in Malaysia such as TGV, GSC and Lotus Five Star had also recently showed their support towards the Earth Hour celebration all over Klang Valley area by switching off their premises' non-essential lights on the evening of Saturday, 26 March. Other new releases and sneak shows over the weekend in Malaysia include "The Eagle", "Bangkok Traffic Love Story", "Sucker Punch", "... Dalam Botol" and "Aadu Puli". New releases and sneak shows in Singapore over the weekend include "Natali", "Carmen In 3D", "The Lincoln Lawyer", "Cyrano Agency: The Dating Guru", "Morning Glory", "Sucker Punch", "Space Battleship Yamato" and "Mary And Max".
