Chloe Moretz & Rupert Grint in biopic

Writer: Mitchell Wong

Chloe Moretz is set to star with more well-known actors such as Aaron Eckhart, Rupert Grint and Vera Farmiga.

17 Mar – After scoring roles in Martin Scorsese's groundbreaking "Hugo" and Tim Burton's upcoming "Dark Shadows", Chloe Grace Moretz will next be seen in with British actor Rupert Grint, best known for playing Ronald Weasley in the "Harry Potter" franchise, in Randall Miller's indie biopic of popular 60's rock band The Beach Boys, "The Drummer", according to First Showing.

With "The Run Diary" actor Aaron Eckhart to portray the band's late songwriter-drummer Dennis Wilson, and "Safe House" actress Vera Farmiga as singer-songwriter Christine McVie of the late 60's British blues band Fleetwood Mac, Grint and Moretz are the young talents for the film. They are currently in talks with Miller and writer Jody Savin to play supporting roles in the film.

"The Dummer" tells the tale of Dennis Wilson's last six years of life in the iconic rock band, during which he produced some of the best music, before tragically drowning in 1983 in Marina Del Rey shortly after his solo album hit release "Pacific Ocean Blue. However, his band-mates re-released the album in 2008 and it was dubbed best re-release of the year by Rolling Stone.

15-year-old "Kick Ass" star Moretz will be playing Jennifer, who is the daughter of the legendary drummer, while 24-year-old Grint would play a mail room intern named Stan Shapiro who befriends Wilson during the last few years of the musician's life.

If Grint accepts the role, this film is one of his first big projects since the conclusion of the "Harry Potter" franchise last year besides a lead role in "Into The White", and there is no doubt that all eyes will be on him to see him prove his mettle as an actor.

As of yet, no release date have been decided for the film, and seeing that it is an indie, there is a high possibility that it will be released in a film festival. "The Drummer" does not start shooting until later this year.

Moretz will next appear in Burton's "Dark Shadows" out this May in Malaysia and Singapore's cinemas and the comedy "Movie 43", out this August only in Singapore.
