5 Jan – The rumoured biopic based on the life of award-winning British musician, Elton John, has finally landed a director and the singer already knows who he wants to step into his shoes and be Elton John.

"I've got a wish list of people," the 64-year-old singer tells the L.A. Times after it asked who should play him in the planned film. "No. 1 on my wish list is Justin Timberlake, because he played me before in a David LaChapelle video of 'Rocket Man' and was superb."

As of now, the biopic is still in the works and fans should watch for an announcement "very soon" for more details.

All that the best-selling musician is willing to reveal now is that the film will feature songs from his career and possibly a few new ones. Written by Lee Hall of "Billy Elliot" fame, the film will follow the footsteps of "Moulin Rouge", depicting a "surreal" look at his life rather than a strictly factual account. However, the director that they have is not "Moulin Rouge"'s Baz Luhrmann.

"We tried to get Baz, but Baz is so busy," he said. "We can't announce it yet, but we have got someone on board that we're very excited about."

Sir Elton John added that they are currently working on the script, after which they will begin casting calls.
