New cast for "Iron Man 3"

James Badge Dale is the latest addition to the cast of "Iron Man 3".

20 May – The latest word going around Marvel's grapevine is that James Badge Dale, best known for his role of Chase Edmunds in the third season of "24" and Robert Leckie in the HBO miniseries "The Pacific", has been casted as Eric Savin, aka Coldblood, alongside villains Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce, according to Science Fiction.

Not only that, British indie darling Rebecca Hall, who was last seen in the horror "The Awakening", has also stepped in to fill the role vacated by Jessica Chastain. However, no other details about her role are available except that she plays a "sexy scientist".

The third instalment of "Iron Man" will borrow elements from Warren Ellis' six issue "Iron Man: Extremis" series, which focuses on the spread of a virus through nanotechnology. Pearce has already been casted as geneticist Aldrich Killian who created the new form of nanotechnology while Dale's Savin is a U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel who is in charge of Project: Ultra-Tech. However, when the latter steps on a landmine and dies for 2.3 minutes, cybernetic surgery is performed on him, bringing him back to life as a mercenary cyborg named Coldblood.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen what villainous role that Kingsley will be playing, although it may or may not be the rumoured the classic villain known as the Mandarin.

"Iron Man 3" begins shooting this month in North Carolina and will move onto China later in the summer. The film is directed by Shane Black and Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, Rebecca Hall and James Badge Dale stars.

"Iron Man 3" is slated for release by Disney on 3 May 2013.
