Wang Xueqi joins "Iron Man 3"

Award-winning Wang Xueqi will add an international flavour to "Iron Man 3" alongside Robert Downey Jr.

11 Dec –Wang Xueqi, China's actor of calibre from "Bodyguards and Assassins", joins Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle in "Iron Man 3" as Dr Wu.

Movie fans are speculating that the name is merely a cover for Dr. Chen Lu of Marvel Comics lore, who eventually becomes Iron Man's foe as Radioactive Man despite insistence that the role is newly created for the movie.

There is even talk that Marvel may pull a Ra's Al Ghul in "Batman Begins" where Ben Kingsley's Mandarin (who is originally a Chinese) might turn out to be a puppet much like Ken Watanabe in "Batman" to reveal Wang as the real Mandarin.

Andy Lau was first choice to star in "Iron Man 3".

The role was previously offered to Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau, best known for his performance in the "Infernal Affairs" franchise, who opted to drop out. Wang was later pulled in to replace Lau.

Wang will no doubt be able to carry the role with ease as attested by his Best Supporting Actor win for "Forever Enthralled" at both the Golden Rooster Awards and the Golden Horse Awards.

"Iron Man 3" is slated for release on May 3, 2013.
