Cumberbatch leaves "Crimson Peak"

Benedict Cumberbatch

22 August – Rising British actor Benedict Cumberbatch has elected to drop out of "Pacific Rim" director Guillermo Del Toro's upcoming gothic horror film, "Crimson Peak".

The "Sherlock" actor had been due to star in the film along side Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Charlie Hunnam but has dropped out of the project for unknown reasons.

"Crimson Peak" is due to start shooting in January, which gives Del Toro some time to find a suitable replacement for Cumberbatch. Earlier in June, Del Toro recruited Wasikowska to replace Emma Stone after she left the project.
