"Fault In Our Stars" finds lead

Writer: Ng Suzhen

Big roles are rolling in for rising Hollywood star Shailene Woodley.

18 Feb – After landing the juicy role of Mary Jane Watson in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2", Shailene Woodley will next play cancer-stricken Hazel Grace Lancaster in the film adaptation of John Green's "The Fault In Our Stars".

This will mark Woodley's second involvement in a film adaptation of a popular young adult novel, with the first being "Divergent", which also sees her playing the lead.

Lauded as Time Magazine's book of the year for 2012, the former tells the story of 16-year-old Lancaster who is fuelled by teen angst and depression due to her terminal condition. Doctors, who are worried for her mental state, encourage her to join a kids-with-cancer support group where she meets fellow cancer survivor, Augustus Waters. Romance, of course, ensues between the two.

Shailene Woodley's Mary Jane Watson will soon come between Spider-Man and Gwen Stacy.

It's been reported that author Green approves of the casting for the female lead. Other characters have yet to be cast but the film will be written by Scott Nustadter and Michael H. Weber, the duo responsible for "(500) Days Of Summer" and might directed by Josh Boone, according to website Hypable.

Woodley's Mary Jane Watson will be seen in cinemas alongside Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker in May 2014 while "Divergent" will hit cinemas in March next year.
