2 Jan – The original deadline for members of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to vote for Oscar nominations has been extended from Thursday, 3 January, 5pm PT to Friday, 4 January, 5pm PT. The one day extension is to accommodate the online voting system, which is introduced for the first time this year.
"By extending the voting deadline we are providing every opportunity available to make the transition to online balloting as smooth as possible," said Ric Robertson, Academy COO. "We're grateful to our global membership for joining us in this process." The 85th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 10 at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater while The Oscars will be held on 24 February at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center. Seth MacFarlane from "Ted" will be picking up hosting duties for the upcoming awards ceremony.
