"Apes" swing to the top!

The apes swung to the top spot of last weekend's box office chart in Malaysia, Singapore and U.S.

16 Jul – Seems like the bots from "Transformers: Age of Extinction" are no match for the primates from "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" after losing their throne to the apes for last weekend's box office chart spanning from 10 to 13 July 2014 in Malaysia, Singapore and U.S.

With a domestic collection of over USD72.6 million, "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" took a big lead in its opening weekend, successfully knocking down "Transformers: Age of Extinction" to second place which only managed to collect a total of USD16.3 million. Coming in close at third place was McCarthy's comedy film, "Tammy", making do with a total weekend gross of USD12.5 million.

"Transformers 4" was dethroned from the first position to second in last weekend's box office charts of Malaysia, Singapore and U.S.

The monkeys sure mean business, even in Malaysia as "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" easily ruled the box office charts, pushing down "Transformers: Age of Extinction" and "Deliver Us From Evil" to second and third place respectively.

Similar to Malaysia, "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" also took over the weekend box office chart in Singapore, placing "Transformers: Age of Extinction" to second and "Deliver Us From Evil" to third place. On the other hand, also opening in Malaysia last week are the movies; "Meendum Amman", "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania", "Punjab 1984", "Walk of Shame", "Hungry Ghost Ritual" and "Hansie".

Other new movies that opened in Singapore last week are; "Lekar Hu Deewana Dil", "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania", "Behaving Badly", "Walking On Sunshine" and "Hungry Ghost Ritual".
