Bryan Singer back for "X-Men: Apocalypse"

Bryan Singer is confirmed to direct and write the upcoming "X-Men" film!

23 Sep – Bryan Singer has finally sealed the deal with 20th Century Fox to return as the director for the next "X-Men" film, "X-Men: Apocalypse".

Although it is not surprising to know that Singer will return for the next "X-Men" sequel considering he has already worked on several "X-Men" films such as "X-Men", "X-Men: First Class" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past", following the sexual abuse lawsuit by Michael Egan, it was thought that Fox might've wanted to replace Singer with other directors.

But with the lawsuit dropped, Singer is set to return for the fourth time as a director for the "X-Men" film franchise.

According to Variety, Singer said that the upcoming "X-Men" film is expected to feature all the "X-Men" cast members, which includes the newer "X-Men" cast Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and James McAvoy.

"Apocalypse will have more of the mass destruction that the "X-Men" films, to date, have not relied upon, there's definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle."

Singer also said that "X-Men: Apocalypse" will take place in the 1980s, a decade after the events of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and it would feature some younger versions of the familiar characters.

"I call these movies in-between-quels. It's a mind-f**k sometimes in terms of where things fall in the timeline," said Singer to Variety.

Singer will also be penning the script of the film alongside Simon Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.

The production is scheduled to start early 2015 with a release date set for 27 May 2016 in U.S.
