Jackman wants to fight Tatum in "X-Men"

20 May – Actor Hugh Jackman may be busy travelling the world to promote his latest movie, "X-Men: Days Of Future Past", but when he caught wind that actor Channing Tatum would be joining the franchise, the 45-year-old actor couldn't contain his excitement.

Having played the "X-Men" mutant, Wolverine for over 14 years in 7 films now, Jackman revealed that he would love to fight the newly cast "X-Men" recruit, actor Channing Tatum.

"Channing Tatum signing on is great. He's an awesome actor and I think he's fantastic, maybe we'll have Wolverine in there to go toe to toe with him in the next movie. I can't wait to fight him." said Jackman.

The actor revealed he only found out about the casting in the early morning of 14 May while travelling from Beijing to Singapore for the South East Asian blue carpet premiere of "X-Men: Days Of Future Past".

With Channing Tatum in the picture, this also means that actor Taylor Kitsch who originally played the mutant with kinetic energy card throwing powers has been officially replaced from resuming his role as Gambit.

Channing Tatum will be the new Gambit.

"I really thought Taylor Kitsch did a great job [in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"] and I feel for him." added Jackman.

It is expected that Gambit could make his appearance in the next "X-Men" ensemble sequel, "X-Men: Apocalypse" in 2016 and/or the next "Wolverine" film slated before 2016.

Gambit will have his own spin-off from the main series, but it is currently under development with no directors named for the project.

"X-Men: Days Of Future Past" comes to cinemas in Malaysia and Singapore this 22 May 2014.
