"Lucy" charms Malaysia and Singapore

Looks like moviegoers in Malaysia and Singapore really love Scarlett Johansson.

26 Aug – "Guardians of the Galaxy" team has knocked "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" right off the top spot to reclaim last weekend's U.S. box office from 21 to 24 August 2014. However, in Malaysia and Singapore, the female-driven action film, "Lucy" conquered the weekend box office.

In U.S., "Guardians of the Galaxy" collected a total of USD 17.2 million, pushing "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" to second place with a slight difference of USD 0.5 million.

Coming in at close third, American drama film, "If I Stay" proudly claimed the third spot with a weekend box office collection of USD 15.6 million.

In Malaysia, Scarlett Johansson starrer, "Lucy" swept the people of the nation away with her acting skills and action in the movie which landed her the top spot in last weekend's box office collection in Malaysia.

Falling to second place is previous weekend's box office champion, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" with the third going to "The Expendables 3".

The "Guardians" are back to claim their throne in U.S.

Similarly in Singapore, "Lucy" took first place over the weekend, while the second and third place goes to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "The Expendables 3" respectively.

Also opening in Malaysia last week are "Aindhaam Thalaimurai Sidha Vaidhiya Sigamani", " Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam", "Coming Home", "Tekken: Kazuya's Revenge", "Hong Hoon" and "Jin".

Other new movies that opened in Singapore last week are "Aindhaam Thalaimurai Sidha Vaidhiya Sigamani", "The Four 3", "Tekken: Kazuya's Revenge", "Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam", "Yasmine", "The Giver", "One Minute More" and "Temporary Family".
