Lupita and Gwendoline for "Star Wars"


Lupita Nyong'O and Gwendoline Christie will join the new "Star Wars" film.

4 Jun – Lupita Nyong'O and Gwedoline Christie have been announced to be the new cast additions of J.J. Abrams' upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII".

The casting of both actresses with undisclosed roles was announced in a statement from the ongoing production team of "Episode VII".

"I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII," says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. "It's thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape."

Both actresses would be joining John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in "Episode VII".

Nyong'O was the recent winner at the 2014 Academy Awards as Best Supporting Actress for her debut appearance in Steve McQueen's "12 Years A Slave" that also won Best Film at the awards. She was most recently seen in "Non-Stop", starring Liam Neeson.

Christie is best known for her role in the ongoing HBO TV series "Game of Thrones", and will be seen in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" slated for release this year.
