27 Jan – "American Sniper" maintains a steady hold on the number one spot on the U.S. weekend box office chart for 22 to 25 January and even manages to strike the first place on the Singapore chart during its opening weekend in the country. While over in Malaysia, "I" still conquers top spot. "American Sniper" stays on top of the chart by grossing USD64.6 million in the U.S. last weekend. New movie "The Boy Next Door" opened at number two, grossing USD14.9 million. Last week's number three, "Paddington", keeps its placement on the third rung with a gross of USD12.2 million.
Over in Malaysia, Tamil movie "I" maintains its hold on the top spot, while last week's second runner-up "Into the Woods" climbs up a spot to claim second place. Landing in third is the new Malay movie, "Suamiku Encik Perfect 10" starring Aaron Aziz and Lisa Surihani. Meanwhile in Singapore, "American Sniper" opens at number one. "Into the Woods" remains at the number two spot while "Taken 3" slips down two places to number three. Also opening in Malaysia last weekend were "Vice", "Tracers", "The Boy Next Door", "Mortdecai", "S For Secrets", "Birdman", "Hollow", "Dolly Ki Doli" and "Darling". Other movies that opened in Singapore last weekend are "Gopala Gopala", "Cousins", "Dolly Ki Doli", "The Imitation Game", "The Boy Next Door", "I Fine, Thank You... Love You", "White Bird in A Blizzard" and "Exists".
