6 Aug – Colin Farrell is set to play a wizard in the upcoming spinoff of the "Harry Potter" franchise, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them". The 39-year-old is set to portray wizard Graves who meets magizoologist Newt Scamander on his travels in New York, according to a press statement from Warner Bros. He will be joining confirmed leads Eddie Redmayne, who plays Scamander, and Katherine Waterston, who plays Porpentina a.k.a. Tina. Ezra Miller was previously rumoured to join the cast but there is no confirmation of his casting to date. The movie is the first of a spinoff trilogy also based on author J.K. Rowling's book, in which Scamander travels to find and document magical creatures, and the book he eventually authors becomes the detailed Hogwarts textbook used by Harry, Hermione and Ron about 80 years later in the "Harry Potter" series. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" plays on the big screen in November 2016. Apart from playing a wizard, Farrell is also set to appear as a serial killer in 2015 movie "Solace" and was recently seen in sci-fi thriller, "The Lobster", which won the Jury Prize at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
