Third victory lap for "Fast and Furious 7"


"Fast and Furious 7" parked at No. 1 in the U.S., M'sia and S'pore for the third week.
21 Apr – "Fast and Furious 7" makes its third victory lap as it once again races to number one on the weekend box office charts in the U.S., Malaysia and Singapore for 16 to 19 April.

Its lucky number seven for the seventh "Fast and Furious" movie, as it is currently parked at the seventh spot for the highest-grossing movie of all time after racing past the USD1 billion worldwide gross mark.

It also breaks the record as the fastest movie to reach USD1 billion globally, Universal is definitely not furious as the studio now has its first billion dollar movie.

Based on Box Office Mojo charts, "Fast and Furious 7" made USD29.1 million in the U.S. last weekend, securing its top spot yet again. Newly released "Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2" collected USD23.7 million, placing second on the weekend box office chart. Another new release, "Unfriended", gets friendly in the third spot with its collection of USD15.8 million.


"Kanchana 2", sequel to 2011's "Kanchana", performed well at the box office.
Over in Malaysia, Dom Toretto still dominates with his "Fast and Furious 7" crew. Second place is won over by new Tamil horror comedy, "Kanchana 2", while Adam Sandler's "The Cobbler" strutted up a spot to number three.

Meanwhile in Singapore, "Fast and Furious 7" of course still holds on fast to first place. Two new releases, Tom Hardy's "Child 44" and Tony Jaa's "Skin Trade", take second and third places, respectively.

Last weekend also saw the releases of these new movies in Malaysia: "Lost and Love", "O Kadhal Kanmani", "Good Kill", "Abang Lejen", "Child 44", "Danny Collins", "Agileswari", "Mr. X" and "Arpeggio Of The Blue Steel - Ars Nova - Dc".

In Singapore, other new releases are "O Kadhal Kanmani", "Mr. X", "Nanak Shah Fakir", "Kanchana 2", "Robot Overlords", "Ode to My Father" and "Unlucky Plaza".
