26 Mar – Warner Bros. has revealed that there is currently yet another spinoff in the works for "The Lego Movie", entitled "The Billion Brick Race".
According to The Hollywood Reporter, TV's "How I Met Your Mother" star Jason Segel and "Iron Man 3" writer Drew Pearce have joined the project as writers and co-directors.
Though the studio is keeping a tight lid on the plot, it is revealed that the spinoff will be based on an original idea by Pearce, who is no stranger to action franchise as he recently worked on the upcoming "Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation", and is also working on Sony's "Ghostbusters".
Segel, on the other hand, helped revive Disney's "The Muppets" and has dabbled in scriptwriting for comedy films such as "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Sex Tape".
Last year's award-winning "The Lego Movie" achieved immense success upon release, grossing USD468.7 million worldwide including collecting USD1.3 million in Malaysia and USD2.4 million in Singapore.
"The Billion Brick Race" will be in addition to the three movies already confirmed by the studio; Charlie Bean's 2016 film "Ninjago", 2017's "The Lego Batman Movie" and 2018's sequel "The Lego Movie 2".
