28 Jan – The American science fiction disaster film, "Independence Day," seems to have its lead in the form of actor Liam Hemsworth and the release date of 24 June 2016 for its second chapter, "Independence Day 2". Co-writer and director of the film, Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich have announced that the 25-year-old "Hunger Games" star might be taking the over the lead role which was previously played by "Men In Black" actor Will Smith, who rose to blockbuster fame with the first "Independence Day" movie in 1996. "Will Smith cannot come back because he's too expensive, but he'd also be too much of a marquee name. It would be too much. We have like maybe half of the people that you would know from the first film and the other half people who are new," said Emmerich.
The original script has been rewritten by Carter Blanchard who was hired by 20th Century Fox, while Emmerich is looking forward to begin shooting this May. The "2012" director has also set the return of the other original stars for "Independence Day 2" like Jeff Goldblum, Randy Quaid and Bill Pullman, with "Chronicle" actor Michael B. Jordan joining in as part of the new cast additions. Hemsworth will soon be seen in Kieran Darcy-Smith's "By Way of Helena" where he will be reteaming with his "Hunger Games" co-star, Woody Harrelson slated for this year, as well as the final "Hunger Games" movie , "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2" this 19 November 2015.
