10 Nov – After director Sofia Coppola pulled out from the project, fans could be forgiven for thinking the live-action adaptation of "The Little Mermaid" is never getting on its feet, so to speak.

However, seems like the bubble is still not burst as Universal Pictures is still moving forward with the pic, according to Variety, and has set Chloe Grace Moretz to star as the titular mermaid.

The 18-year-old has been one of Hollywood's favourite young actresses since making her feature debut in 2005. Some of her more prominent roles to date include Hit-Girl in 2010's "Kick Ass", Carrie White in 2013's "Carrie", Alina / Teri in "The Equalizer" and most recently, young Diondra Wertzne in "Dark Places".

No further details were revealed though it is said that "Love, Actually" scriber Richard Curtis will be penning the script for the live-action adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tale.

There is currently no release date set for the movie.
