No whips allowed for "Fifty Shades of Grey"

"Fifty Shades" turns the heat up this month of love.

10 Feb – In anticipation of the throng of hyped-up fans who will be swarming the cinemas once erotic romance movie "Fifty Shades of Grey" hits the big screen, cinema chains in North America are taking steps to ensure every patron's viewing pleasure will not be tainted by unpleasant circumstances.

One of the foreseen circumstances is apparently patrons getting in the mood and starting to whip their other half during the movie screening.

According to Time, AMC theatres are banning its patrons from bringing whips, handcuffs, ties or the likes to the screening. AMC spokesman Ryan Noonan said, "We do not permit weapons, real or fake, or items that would make other guests feel uncomfortable or detract from the movie-going experience."

The request is reasonable enough. Noonan even went on to explain the ban is not for the movie specifically but applies to any movie screened at AMC.

The movie is one of the most highly anticipated movies this year, proven by the fact that its trailer was the most watched for last year. Tickets to its premieres have also been selling like hot cakes. No surprise then when it was announced that the next two books in the trilogy will be adapted into sequels.

While "Fifty Shades of Grey" has been banned from showing in Malaysian cinemas, Singapore will start playing it on the big screen this 12 February.
