Royston Tan helms third micro movie

The stars of this year's micro movie.

23 Mar – Royston Tan's upcoming movie is a 10-minute micro movie commissioned by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

The micro movie aims to showcase the beauty and attractions of Singapore, in an attempt to regenerate the Chinese tourist traffic into the country, according to The New Straits Times.

The movie is the third micro-movie in China by the STB.

This time around, the main roles in the movies are played by a Chinese boy and a Singaporean boy. It is through their eyes that viewers will see the attractions of the city-state. One of the featured attractions is the Marine Life Park in Sentosa.

This being the 25th year since ties between China and Singapore were established, STB's Greater China regional director, Mr Edward Chew, said, ""We hope the next 25 years of Sino-Singapore ties can be like the previous 25... where good bilateral relations have been cemented."

The first micro movie produced under STB's three-year China marketing campaign, New Discoveries In Your Singapore, was released back in 2013, starring Taiwanese actress and singer Ariel Lin. In 2014, Taiwanese actor Jimmy Lin and Chinese actress Tian Yuan starred in STB's second mini movie, that was made in collaboration with Chinese video site Youku.

The first movie to date has 3.5 million views, while the second movie garnered 10.4 million views in just two months.

The third movie is the only micro-movie in the series to not star any already well-known actors. It is set to be released on Chinese video website Youku sometime this week.
