Ryan Gosling confirms role in "Blade Runner 2"

Ryan Gosling confirmed to star in "Blade Runner 2".

18 Nov – Previously, there has been word of actor-director Ryan Gosling starring in the upcoming "Blade Runner 2".

Now, Gosling himself has finally confirmed the news, according to Collider, saying that the movie will be next in his filming schedule. However, he declined to reveal more of his role, saying, "there's a chip in me and if I say anything more I'll explode if I say anything else."

So far, the only known cast members of the movie are Gosling and returning star Harrison Ford, who played Rick Deckard in the 1982 neo-noir sci-fi movie.

Ridley Scott will not be returning as director, though he is executive producing, replaced instead by "Sicario" helmer, Denis Villeneuve.

Not much is known about the plot at the moment but Scott did talk about the opening scene at the recent AFI (American Film Institute) Fest 2015 in Hollywood.

Here's an excerpt as transcribed by JoBlo, "We decided to start the film off with the original starting block of the original film. We always loved the idea of a dystopian universe, and we start off at what I describe as a 'factory farm' – what would be a flat land with farming."

For fans who are thinking of looking up the full description of the opening scene, be warned of the spoilers it may contain.

Gosling will be seen next in "The Big Short" with Brad Pitt, Christian Bale and Steve Carell, as well as "The Nice Guys", starring alongside Russell Crowe, Matt Bomer and Kim Basinger.

"Blade Runner 2" is expected to begin filming in mid-2016, though a release date has yet to be set.
